Save Our Stories
Stories help us understand ourselves, one another, and the world around us. When books are removed from schools and libraries, readers lose more than access to books. They lose the opportunity to see their lives reflected, encounter new perspectives, explore important ideas, and decide for themselves what to read.
This Banned Books Week, Penguin Random House and partners across the country are bringing books and opportunities for action directly to communities. Whether you read a banned book, share why a story matters, contact your representatives, or help a book reach another reader, everyone has a role to play in saving our stories and protecting the right to read.
The Banned Wagon
See our 2026 tour stops—from the five boroughs of New York City, to an independent Detroit bookstore, to Chicago Public Library's Obama Presidential Center Branch.
Featured Books
At each stop, the Banned Wagon will showcase more than 50 banned and challenged books for readers of all ages, and distribute free copies to attendees while supplies last.
