The 2026 Banned Wagon Tour

This year's tour will begin in New York City, with stops across all five boroughs, then travel to Source Booksellers, an independent bookstore in Detroit, MI, before concluding at the Chicago Public Library's Obama Presidential Center Branch for Let Freedom Read Day on Saturday, October 10th.

The Banned Wagon will showcase more than 50 banned and challenged books for readers of all ages, from picture books to novels, and distribute free copies to attendees while supplies last. Attendees will also be invited to take action: by sending a note to local representatives through Penguin Random House’s partnership with EveryLibrary, and by scanning a QR code featured on the Wagon to donate a book to a community in need through our partnership with First Book.
