Portfolio & Sentinel Books FAQ

For Influencers

Portfolio Influencer Program Overview

The Portfolio influencer program is proud to partner with the talented bookstagram community to spread buzz about books for ambitious people. Our program is very straightforward: roughly once a season you’ll receive an email with a list of our new titles. You can pick a handful of titles that you’re interested in to potentially feature on your account, and then we’ll mail them to you. It’s that easy!

I am an Influencer in the nonfiction book space and would like to receive early copies of your upcoming titles. How should I proceed?

If you’d like to review books for your social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, blog) please complete this form to indicate your interest: https://forms.gle/FsFrDwDCwpzu3vTt5

Please direct any questions to portfoliomarketing@penguinrandomhouse.com with "Portfolio Influencer Request" in the subject line.

Portfolio and Sentinel are US based publishers, so we are only able to provide copies to Bookstagrammers within the US. If you are located internationally, we recommend you first check with your local publisher. You can also reach out to our international publicity team at internationalpublicity@penguinrandomhouse.com to check on the rights restrictions and availability of review copies on a title-by-title basis.

For US media inquiries and publicity requests please contact: portfoliopublicity@penguinrandomhouse.com.

How do I request a Portfolio or Sentinel book that has already been published?

Please email portfoliomarketing@penguinrandomhouse.com with “Influencer Book Request” in the subject line. In the body of your email, please include the book title, author, and ISBN, as well as information about you -- your platform, handle, url, and follower count.

Can I receive Galleys or Advance Readers Copies (ARCs)?

For the foreseeable future, we will not be mailing galleys or ARCs. We will instead send finished books, available closer to publication. Quantities are limited. We reserve the right to send finished books at our discretion. Due to scheduling and embargoes, finished copies will not be sent for all titles.

If you review a book of ours, you are always welcome to tag us on social media.

A note about paid campaigns

We primarily work with bookstagrammers through our seasonal mailings, in which we provide free copies in exchange for potential posts. Outside of this program, sometimes paid campaigns are built for specific titles. Not every title receives a paid influencer campaign, but on the rare occasion that there is one, a separate team outside of the Portfolio influencer program team handles them. For general questions about paid campaigns, please email portfoliomarketing@penguinrandomhouse.com and put “Paid Influencer Campaign” in your subject line.

For Media and Publicity

I work for a media outlet interested in covering a Portfolio or Sentinel book. How can I request a review copy?

For US media inquiries and publicity requests for Portfolio titles and authors please contact: portfoliopublicity@penguinrandomhouse.com.

For Potential Authors

Penguin Random House does not accept unsolicited submissions, proposals, manuscripts, illustrations, artwork, or submission queries at this time. This includes submission of work previously published elsewhere. We are also unable to provide draft support, translation or ghostwriters for aspiring authors.

If you would like to have your work or manuscript considered for publication by a major book publisher, we recommend that you work with an established literary agent. Each agency has manuscript submission guidelines.

You may wish to refer to The Literary MarketPlace (the LMP), a reference guide that contains a listing of literary agencies. It can be found in most libraries. Another excellent source is The Writer's Market, which you should be able to find in a local bookstore or library. You can also visit their Web site at www.writersdigest.com for more information.
